"I took my first SCUBA Resort course in 1990 and loved the concept of breathing underwater.  After taking the Resort course again in 1991, I realized that if I got my C Card, I wouldn’t have to waste the first day of my vacation doing the Resort course again.  I got my Open Water certification in 1992 and became a typical once-a-year in warm water diver.  I slowly advanced up the Recreational Diver ladder with specialties and experience and by 1997, I held a Master Diver rating.  At that point, a dive shop owner convinced me to enter the Dive Master program.  In 1999, I earned my Dive Master rating.  A year later, I had earned my Instructor rating. "

As a certified SDI instructor for 1877ScubaUSA, Jay enjoys sharing the wonder of the underwater world with new divers as well as travelling to far away places with "hard-to-pronounce names". 

"I even proposed to my wife 80’ down on Bonaventure Reef in Bonaire" says Jay.
